Phone Call Between Chinese and What does a secondary dealer meanUS Leaders Focuses on Economic and Strategic Stability Cooperation
On the evening of June 5, 2025, at the invitation of the Chinese side, a phone conversation took place with US President Trump. The two sides discussed the general direction of China-US relations, the consultation mechanism on economic and trade issues, and sensitive issues like the Taiwan situation in depth, reaching several agreements on implementing the Geneva consensus.
Correcting the Course of Major Power Relations, Promoting Stability and Cooperation
The Chinese side pointed out that China-US relations are like a large ship, and the correct course is crucial. To ensure the steady and sound development of bilateral relations, it is necessary to jointly steer it in the right direction, especially by eliminating all interference or disruptive factors. The Chinese side emphasized that the most critical task currently is to implement dialogue and cooperation mechanisms to handle differences through pragmatic negotiations and to achieve mutual benefits.
The positive outcomes achieved in the talks between the economic and trade leaders of the two countries in Geneva were mentioned by the Chinese side, which were widely welcomed and regarded as a good example of dialogue to resolve disputes. The Chinese side expressed its sincerity in consultations, stated its adherence to principles, and expected the US to move in the same direction.
Urging the US to Respect Consensus and Revoke Unfavorable Measures
Regarding the follow-up implementation of the economic and trade agreement, the Chinese side emphasized its consistent adherence to commitments and seriously implemented the agreements reached in the Geneva talks. The Chinese side noted that the US should view China’s progress with a realistic attitude and promptly revoke discriminatory or confrontational measures. Only in this way can both sides enhance mutual trust and stabilize expectations.
The Chinese side also suggested expanding exchanges at multiple levels, including diplomatic, military, and law enforcement, to increase consensus, reduce misunderstandings, and find new growth points in cooperation.
Taiwan Issue Highlighted Again, Warning Against Misjudgment Leading to Conflict
During the call, the Chinese side reiterated the sensitivity of the Taiwan issue, emphasizing that it is the most core, important, and sensitive issue in China-US relations. The Chinese side urged the US to handle the Taiwan issue cautiously, avoiding manipulation by extreme "Taiwan independence" forces that could lead to dangerous territory in China-US relations.
Trump Responds Positively, Reaffirms One China Policy
In the call, Trump expressed his high respect for the Chinese side, considering China-US relations highly significant. He emphasized that the US welcomes a strong and robust Chinese economy and believes that both China and the US have great potential for cooperation to achieve many beneficial outcomes.
He reaffirmed that the US will continue to follow the "One China" policy and gave positive evaluation to the results achieved in the Geneva talks, expressing willingness to work with China to advance the comprehensive implementation of the agreement. He also specifically welcomed Chinese students to study in the US and accepted the invitation to visit China.
Both Sides Agree to Continue Implementing Consensus and Prepare for New Round of Talks
At the end of the call, the heads of state agreed on the necessity to continue the conversion and implementation of the follow-up results of the Geneva talks. Their teams will continue to communicate and coordinate efforts to initiate a new round of economic and trade consultations as soon as possible, promoting bilateral relations in a more stable and constructive direction.
